Inclusivity for the deaf community. On 01 February 2021 President Ramaphosa also known as ‘Cupcake’ ‘The Nations Bae’ had a family meeting with his fellow South Africans to announce changes to alert level 3 and the more eased restrictions on the curfew, alcohol and gatherings. Many South Africans were beyond ecstatic at the news of extended curfew hours and the sale of onsite and offsite alcohol being permitted along with gatherings as per lockdown regulations, with a few chaotic videos doing the rounds on social media with celebrations that were similar to New Year’s eve with fireworks being displayed and people chanting ‘Ku vuliwe’ which means it has be open opened in Zulu, one of South Africa’s 11 official languages. It was unfortunately not a shared experience for all South Africans as the deaf community was excluded from the family meeting when President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation.
